It is with great enthusiasm that we announce Patrick Henry has been named the next Athletic Director of Hargrave Military Academy. Patrick will start on April 27 to begin the transition process with Amanda Weishaar, who has served the Academy with distinction and made a significant impact, particularly in advancing our aquatics program.
“Patrick’s passion for athletics, his commitment to developing student-athletes, and his proven leadership at multiple levels make him exceptionally well-suited to lead Hargrave Athletics forward,” said Sloan Gibson, President of Hargrave Military Academy.
Patrick joins Hargrave from Averett University, where he served as Head Football Coach after nearly a decade of distinguished leadership within the program. During his tenure, he guided the program through periods of transition and growth, developed high-performing teams, and mentored student-athletes to success both on the field and in the classroom.
With more than 20 years of coaching experience across Division I, II, and III programs, Patrick has built a career defined by competitive excellence, program development, and a deep investment in the holistic growth of student-athletes. His teams have produced numerous all-conference and award-winning players.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Education. His career also includes experience at Ball State University and the University of Dayton. He is also known for his strong Christian faith, which has been a guiding influence throughout his leadership and mentorship of student-athletes.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as Director of Athletics at Hargrave Military Academy and give all glory to God for this opportunity. I look forward to developing cadets in all four pillars: Academics, Character, Faith, and Athletics, and building a program that makes the Hargrave community proud,” said Patrick Henry.
At Hargrave, Patrick will lead the continued growth and success of our athletic programs, building on a strong foundation while positioning the Tigers for even greater competitive achievement.
We look forward to welcoming Patrick, his wife Carrie, and their children, Connor and Piper, to the Hargrave community. We are confident that his leadership will strengthen and elevate Hargrave Athletics.
