Hargrave Shines in Dedicated Dive Meet!

The Hargrave Tigers welcomed a trio of competitors to the Onishi-Davenport Aquatics Center for a dedicated dive meet! Head Coach, Amanda Weishaar, has provided a recap below:

In our first dedicated dive meet being held at the Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center I was super happy to have entries from: St Anne’s of Belfield; Chatham Hall; and Martinsville High School; to compete against our 4 divers: Patrick Souza, ’26 (Clarksville, VA); Jarius Steely, ’23 (Fort Lauderdale, FL); Alex Vorontsov, ’27 (Indian Land, SC); and Elijah Willette, ’26 (Chatham, VA).

We were offering both 6 and an 11 dive option, for both males and females. It was very cool to see the caliber of dives, and we even saw a “flying” dive! That was an awesome experience and one that I have instructed our boys to learn!

6 dive:

Alex Vorontsov, ’27 (Indian Land, SC) increased his personal best to 123.55 points (from 93.5) and just missed out on 1st place by 6.8 points!

11 dive:

Jarius Steely, ’23 (Fort Lauderdale, FL) qualified for State by meeting the requirement of 11 complete dives with a minimum score of 2.5 from all 3 judges. Jarius came in 1st overall with a score of 329.70 points. Which is just 22.4 points off breaking the school record!

Patrick Souza, ’26 (Clarksville, VA) came in 4th overall with a score of 259.35. Unfortunately 1 dive was DQ’d so he is unable to qualify for State (this time!)

Elijah Willette, ’26 (Chatham, VA) came in 5th overall with a score of 200.20. Unfortunately 1 dive was DQ’d so he is unable to qualify for State (this time!)
