Wrestling for the first time as a team in 2018, the Hargrave Tigers showed well in the 2018 Cody Day Memorial Invitational Wrestling Tournament. The annual event, whose namesake was a key member of the Hargrave Wrestling family for years, drew schools from Virginia and North Carolina, featuring both public and private school teams. The young Hargrave team represented the school and the event with pride, battling in every match and coming away with a 3rd place finish behind champions Basset High School and runner-up Tunstall high school.
Hargrave had a number of standout performances on the afternoon. Quinn Griffith, Maxwell Hohimer, Sebastian Richardson and Tyler Medlin all went a perfect 4-0 in official matches on the day, with two other wrestlers logging 3-1 performances and all 12 members of the team registering a win in the event.
The team was honored to have Cody’s mother in attendance for the event, and are proud to continue the memory and legacy of her son each year at this event.
