Hargrave Stifled by North Cross

In the second game of a back-to-back, the Hargrave Tigers took a trip to Roanoke to square up with VIC opponent, North Cross, where the Tigers eventually fell to 0-2 in the early part of the season after losing 10-0.

Regardless of the sport, the second leg of a back-to-back is never easy, especially after a gutsy performance less than 24 hours earlier when Hargrave hosted Carlisle at Fuller Field. From the outset, the Tigers struggled to get into a rhythm in their road opener. North Cross had their offense on full display as they unloaded on the Tigers, plating six runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to essentially wrap up the game.

Hargrave was able to put the ball in play but were unable to string enough plays together to make things difficult for a strong North Cross team. However, even in defeat, Head Coach Frank Thomas ’87 was encouraged with the effort from his group stating, “We made some good plays on defense but we also made some costly mistakes that hopefully we will learn from soon. We are excited for the challenge of facing North Cross again later this season.”

The Tigers will be back in action after a brief break as they head to Greensboro, North Carolina on April 6th for a game against Greensboro Day School.
