Once again, the Tigers showed that they are a team you can never count out. For most teams, allowing two early goals to a 2014 Division II state semi-finalist would be too much to overcome- but this Hargrave team has an uncommon resilience that shines through when faced with adversity.
Chris Czarnecki was able to chip away at the early Covenant lead with a goal in the 16th minute. That goal proved to open the floodgates for the Tigers as Raines Wall connected on a 28th minute strike and Chris Czarnecki added his second goal of the half in the 32nd minute, giving the Tigers a 3-2 edge heading into the break.
The second half showcased more of the same from the dynamic attacking duo of Hargrave, with both Raines Wall and Chris Czarnecki completing hat-tricks en route to a decisive 6-3 victory. The win stands as the first-ever victory over Covenant for the Varsity Soccer program, and there is a palpable excitement for where the program is headed as this year progresses.
The Tigers will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday, September 12th as they travel to take on the Blue Ridge School in St. George, VA.
