Hargrave Tennis takes a swing during it second scrimmage

11 March 2025 – The Hargrave JV and Varsity squads once again revisited George Washington High School (Danville, VA) for another scrimmage with players from GWHS and a local tennis organization (Southside Area Tennis Association, SATA).  The work that all had put in was evident as the level of play notched upwards across the board.  For almost 3 hours, almost 50 players mixed it up with high level varsity tennis on one end of the spectrum and novice players getting valuable experience on the other end.  On the Tiger side, several “new to tennis” players logged in their first competitive court experiences (Barrows, DiBartolo, Suttle, Sawyer, and Washington).  Other players got “different looks” at someone besides their teammates and those that lined up with last week.  Coach Zerpa and the team appreciated the support of family, faculty, and staff that joined the crowd encouraging all the players on their tennis journey.  We are still preparing three more Tigers to make their Tiger Tennis debut or return to the courts this season.

Varsity Tennis will open BRAC play at home this Thursday (3/13) against rival Eastern Mennonite at 4:30 pm at the Landon Tennis Center below Walter Davis gym. JV Tennis will open their season on the same day with non-conference play against the SMLCA JV squad at Bernard’s Landing at 4:30.
