HMA Rifle Team Finishes Their Season

Jacob Kave

The HMA rifle team had a long, tiring, and exciting state rifle tournament.  Leading up to this event, and even after the first of three rounds of competition, I was thinking of Rocky 2.  Through Rocky 1, Rocky trains hard, fights well, but loses by decision to Apollo Creed.  But then in Rocky 2, Rocky trains even harder, increases his skill, learns his craft, and defeats Apollo, becoming the world champ.  We were poised to take down the champ, full of confidence, and we started the match with every member shooting better than they had all year.  It seemed like the underdog would be victorious.

However, this was not the case for the HMA rifle team.  The team trained hard, learned their trade, and scored higher than they did all all year.  However, it seems the ending of Rocky 1 repeats itself, and the HMA rifle team came up third.
The scores were:
FMS: 1984
MMA: 1940
HMA: 1859

Even though they finished third, they do have three all state marksmen.  Jordan Dunn and Chandler Wilkie, with scores of 464 and 483 respectively, made 2nd Team All-State.  Dylan Moss made 1st Team All-State, and was the overall high scorer of the tournament, beating out the second place shooter by 12 point.

The other scoring shooter was Noah Cochran with a score of 386.
The other team members were
Hatcher: 370
Winslow: 339
Miladinovic: 239
