Hursey Placed at Texas Tech University

Hargrave Military Academy Post-Graduate football (PGFB) team has suffered its first loss of the 2010 football season. Cadet Don Hursey, a 6’0″ 185 lb. cornerback from H.D. Woodson High School in Washington D.C. was the first signee in our Hargrave’s Post-Graduate Football team’s 2010 recruiting class. Cadet Hursey was a qualifier out of high school, receiving two offers. Hursey did not sign, and opted to enroll at Hargrave just over a week ago.

After being a Hargrave PGFB team member for just over a week, Cadet Hursey received a scholarship offer from Texas Tech University and decided to enroll in time for Texas Tech’s 2010 Fall semester.

This is a fast turn around, if not the fastest, in recent Hargrave memory. Congratulations to Hargrave Post-Graduate Football Coach Troy Davis for the placement and to Cadet Hursey for his acceptance.

Hargrave’s Post-Graduate football program has a national reputation for helping young men learn, and eventually raise their Grade Point Average (GPA) or standardized test scores (SAT, ACT) for placement into college or university of choice. It represents a finishing year, prep year or a 13th high school year for many of these young men. A few Cadets, like Cadet Hursey, use Hargrave to literally buy some time, to mature their bodies, increase their marketability or improve their skills.

While Hargrave does not advertise miracles for every student, most find that a little hard work and attention to detail go a long way towards academic success. Being in the Hargrave pipeline does not hurt, either.

Cadet Hursey is the son of Don and Teresa Hursey, III of Washington, D.C.
