Jake Ness Accepts Postition With Dallas Mavericks

Jake Ness, a Hargrave alum and recent Hargrave postgradute basketball Hall-of-Fame inducteee who has served as an assistant coach on the postgraduate basketball team for the past two seasons, has recently accepted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a player development assistant with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. Ness will be on the court with the Mavs on a daily basis, helping run players through drills, and will even participate in practices as part of the scout team. Ness will also have responsibilities with scouting, film breakdown and strength & conditioning- whatever the team needs to be successful.

“While it’s a sad day for us to lose Jake, we’re thrilled for the opportunity he has and also excited that the Hargrave basketball coaching tree now extends to the NBA.” Head Coach and Program Director Lee Martin said. ” Jake is one of the hardest working and loyal people you will ever meet. I have no doubt that he will excel with the Mavericks and continue to do Hargrave proud.”

Ness was a two-year member of the postgraduate Tigers before signing a scholarship to play basketball at Boise State. Ness returned to Hargrave shortly after graduation to begin his time as an assistant coach. Ness will begin his new role with the Mavericks in mid-August.
