We are thrilled to announce that Janice McLaughlin, a valuable member of our team for six years, has been appointed as the Director of the Academic Learning Center! Janice is a dedicated educator with over 20 years of experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Special Education from Lynchburg College, has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, and has an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. She is also licensed in the state of Virginia in the areas of Special Education and Secondary English Language Arts.
In her most recent role as Director of the Center for Integrated Studies, Janice has led faculty workshops, attended the NAIS Leadership Institute, and has actively participated in sports and numerous other campus activities. She’s always brought a dynamic energy, whether she’s in the classroom or on the field coaching JV Soccer and Varsity Golf!
In her new role as Director of the Academic Learning Center, Janice is dedicated to creating a bustling hub of activity, both during and after class hours. She has a vision for a welcoming environment where students are ignited with a passion for learning, exceeding their own expectations in academics and social progress. Her mission is to foster respect for oneself, leaders, and the four pillars of Hargrave: Academics, Athletics, Character, and Faith.
When she’s not pouring her energy into our academy, Janice is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, an avid reader, a craft lover, and a seasoned traveler. With visits to 48 of the 50 states and ten countries under her belt, she’s even planning to accompany several of our cadets on a Mediterranean excursion in the summer of 2024!
Please join us in giving a hearty Hargrave welcome to Janice McLaughlin as she steps into this exciting new role! We’re confident her leadership will further enrich the Hargrave experience and guide our cadets toward becoming stronger students and well-rounded individuals. We look forward to the future of the Academic Learning Center under her direction!
