JV Baseball Picks up first win of the season Vs Carlisle

The Hargrave JV baseball Tigers scored their first victory of the season Monday by beating the nine from Carlisle School, 20-9. The contest was tighter at times than the final score would indicate; the Tigers trailed 2-0 in their half of the first, and squeaked through the third inning, 11-9, before breaking the game wide open in the fourth.

The team put in a solid effort all around, with good fielding (including a season first double play!), good hitting and especially strong pitching from the trio of hurlers, Talbot, Ramirez and Perrow. Perrow was dramatically effective, striking out the side to end the fifth inning, and the game. Catchers Vorontsov and Ehrhardt showed great potential; Ehrhardt contributing a towering double, offensively.

All in all, it was a sweet victory to get things started. The JV squad continues to roll, facing Dan River Middle School, Wednesday, 4:30, at home.
