Win. 18-0 on the season. VIC South Champions.
We played a team on a mission that refused to lose. Every time we would get a two point lead, they would storm back. In the last quarter with four minutes left, we fell behind for the first time by as much as four points. We came back and took a one point advantage.
We played very good defense and though we missed free throws at the end, we stole three late possessions with Jarrod Patterson getting his hands on two. Brian Sigmon got the last rebound off a narrowly missed three pointer to tie and inadvertantly through the pass to the other team who had one last ditch shot. That shot rimmed off to give us the one basket win.
I was able to name two all tournament members and decided on Josh Rudloph who scored a team high 38 points in the three games and Jarrod Patterson who played awesome defense throughout. I am thankful for such a good bunch of players and was impressed all season with their ability to keep up in classes, stay out of trouble, and actually like each other.
Parents, coaches, and other schools players parents constantly said that these players acted with class and dignity. The kids constantly put up with me yelling at them on the floor and demanding more than they seemed capable of giving.
An interesting note to give, we only averaged winning games this year by under eight points and had wins of 1 pt, 2 pts, 3 pts, 4 pts, and 5 pts to go with several blowouts. We always managed to pull out wins even when other teams seemed to be playing better. Thanks to everyone who supported us.
The team extended its streak to 33 wins in a row, and a two year run of 35 wins and 1 loss. We play our next and last game next Sat. against the north VIC Champion. Come out and support the team
