JV Football vs. Fork Union Military Academy

Hargrave 0 – FUMA 20

The JV football tigers dropped their second game of the season to a VERY large and very experienced Fork Union team on Thursday. In a battle of David and Goliath, the tigers were obviously out-manned and out muscled, but showed a lot of heart and played very hard all game.

In the first 2 quarters of play the tigers gave up 2 touchdowns, making the halftime score 0-14. In the second half the tigers came out and showed that they were not going to give up. They held the blue devils of Fork Union to a mere 6 points in the second half. Everyone played very hard and we had great support on the sidelines.

Offensively the tigers were lead on the ground by Dev Bailey, who had several long runs over 10 yards, and Clay Carver who had several critical ‘drive saving’ runs. On defense the tigers had another solid game all around with everyone doing their job.

While some young players did not get to play due to the huge size difference, they all did their part by cheering for their team and keeping spirits high. Even though we experienced some bumps and bruises, everyone came back to Chatham healthy. The JV tigers have this week off, but will be back in play next week at Liberty Christian Academy (9-27-07).
