Hargrave 14 – VES 32
It didn’t take long for the Bishops to find the endzone, 40 seconds actually. After a long run and 2 pass plays VES lead 6-0 after a missed 2 pt conversion. But the Tigers battled back. After trailing 12-0, William Bridgeforth, playing in his first game since breaking his elbow rumbled in for a Hargrave TD. Dev Bailey tacked on the 2 pt conversion making it 12-8. But what happened next has plagued us all year. The kickoff was returned for a TD dropping us back 20-8.
The defense found a way to slow down the Bishop offense and meanwhile Dev Bailey found an extra gear in his motor rushing for 130 yards including a 65 yard TD burst to pull us back in 26-14. But that was as close as we would get. After taking the ball inside the VES 15, Chris Meyers pass fell short at the goal line on 4th and 5 and we gave the ball back to VES who ran out the clock.
Along with Bridgeforth, and Bailey, Kent Washington had a great game blocking along with the line to pave the way for the rushing game. There are many more so I won’t try to name them all. Hargrave finished 0-7 allowing 132 points on the season for a major improvement from last yr. Thanks for all the support!!!
