JV Soccer vs. Holy Cross

Hargrave 2 – Holy Cross 0

The JV Tigers continue their winning streak after defeating Holy Cross with a score of 2 – 0.

The game began equally in terms of ball possession. Slowly, but with confidence, the Tigers started finding the necessary open spaces and ultimately reaching our opponents’ goal. By the end of the first period the Tigers had accumulated a total of thirteen shots on goal and had five shots against them. The first goal for the Tigers came at minute 19’ of the first half. The play started with a side throw to Ben Oliver (assist) in the penalty area and then a pass to Ben Mills, who managed to beat the well-planted Holy Cross goalie to send HMA ahead 1-0 at the half.

The second half developed entirely in equitable terms. Both teams shared ball possession time and allowed each other few goal opportunities; three shots on goal for the Tigers, five for Holy Cross. The second and final goal of the match came off the cleats of Ben Oliver, who received a pass from Harrison Williams and which made the score of 2-0, at minute 16’. That is the way the match ended – the second half was entirely a defensive game!

Despite their defeat and age disadvantage, Holy Cross displayed remarkable ball control and passing. Hargrave’s defensive team had to work hard to keep them scoreless.
