JV Soccer Wins Opener

The Tigers opened up the season with a solid win against Westover Christian Academy. Hargrave dominated the action throughout the match and kept their opponents at bay, allowing very few opportunities, which culminated in the hands of keeper Blake Horne (four saves).The Tigers took the lead early in the game with a swift breakaway by midfielder Shawn Bridle and later on with another breakaway by team captain Zackery Packer. At halftime Hargrave had a lead of 2-0 over Westover.

During the second half the Tigers expanded their lead by four more goals, the first off the cleats of Nabeel Barqawi with team captain Austin Kaizer with the assist. Later, Zackery Packer would follow suit to score his second goal of the match and Shawn Bridle would also add a second goal to his personal count. With only a few minutes left of game time Junghyun You added another goal for the Tigers to set the final score of 6-0. For the defense, Turner Wall, Daniel Milbrath, and Ryan Phillips had a formidable performance aided later on by Ghassan Khan and Ben Lewis. In the midfield Chase Cooper and David Denis did a commendable job creating many opportunities for goals.

The Tigers will return to the field on Tuesday 13th to take on the Bulldogs of Liberty Christian Academy.
