Hargrave Military Academy Cadet Scott Meredith, a member of the Academy’s highly successful 2014-2015 Postgraduate Basketball team, has signed full athletic scholarship with St. Francis, Pennsylvania to further his education and play NCAA Division I Basketball. Meredith signed at Hargrave on Friday, April 17, 2015 in front of family, faculty, staff and supporters.

“Scott is one of the toughest players I have coached at Hargrave in my nine years at Hargrave,” Coach A.W. Hamilton said. “From day one until the day he left he tried to outwork everyone in our program. With this mentality Scott has accomplished more than he could imagine with signing a division one scholarship. I’m extremely proud of this young man for his work ethic, determination and character.”

Cadet Meredith joined Hargrave and its postgraduate basketball program in the Fall of 2014. With a 4.5 GPA coming out of high school, Meredith sought a program what would raise his visibility with D1 college coaches. The 6’1 student/athlete was an all-time leading scorer at East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, but it still wasn’t enough visibility.

At Hargrave, Meredith averaged 15 points and four assists per game. He shot 42% from three point line and led the team in charges taken.

Meredith’s Hargrave career was also highlighted by making an amazing 18 three point shots in one game against Combine Academy on February 11, 2015. A Youtube video “#2 Scott Meredith Hits EIGHTEEN (!!!) 3’s In One Game!” has received 41,000 views since it was released, and helped Meredith market his skills at the NCAA D1 level.

“This whole process has been a dream come true for me. Hargrave is a place where I could grow as a basketball player but more importantly a place where I could learn to become a better student and a young man,” Meredith said. “Without Hargrave I would not be in the position I am in today signing this D1 scholarship.”

Meredith is the son of Kenneth and Barbara Meredith of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina.
