Messinger Picks Up Win #100!

In the Hargrave Postgraduate Basketball victory on Saturday afternoon, 83-66 over London Basketball Academy as part of the 2023 Relentless Hoops Military Circuit, Head Coach Thomas Messinger scored his 100th career victory at the helm of Hargrave’s illustrious PG Basketball program! Including yesterday’s win, Messinger’s record as Head Postgraduate Basketball Coach sits at 100-6 through two and half seasons.

Throughout this program’s storied existence, winning has become synonymous with Hargrave Basketball but even with that in mind, Messinger has reached new heights becoming the quickest head coach to 100 wins in the program’s history, reaching the century mark during his third season. Following in the footsteps of his recent predecessors, who are all thriving in the collegiate ranks, Messinger notes, “The groundwork has been laid and with over three decades of continual success, I’m just honored to be a part of this program. I’m eternally grateful to Coach A.W. Hamilton for taking me on as an assistant coach, Coach Lee Martin for promoting me to Associate Head Coach, and to the Board of Trustees and the Hargrave administration at Hargrave for entrusting me with the reins of this incredible program for the past several years.”

Messinger is obviously proud of this honor but he’s keeping things in perspective and focusing on one game at a time. “We are just trying to become 1% better every day,” notes Messinger, “our team created collective and individual goals at the beginning of the year and we’re continuing to work towards those daily. A big goal of ours is to have the opportunity to compete for a National Championship (in March) and we took a big step forward this weekend.” The Tigers are currently 30-0 on the season and ranked #1 in the national polls as they head into the home stretch of February and March.
