Middle School Basketball Falls at the Buzzer

Assistant AD
What a difference one point makes! Last week the Hargrave Middle School Basketball Team celebrated a one point win; this week, they came up one point short in a loss to a nice team from Westover Christian Academy. The Hargrave Tigers played very well at the start of the game, and were leading 8-4 at the quarter and 16-9 at the half. The third quarter was pretty even, and the Tigers maintained a 22-16 lead. However, in the 4th quarter Westover had several nice plays to score 8 points, while the shooting went ice cold for the Tigers. Westover took a one point lead with about a minute left in the game. The Tigers had several chances to score, but it seemed like there was a lid on their basket, and they were unable to come up with the winning bucket. The Tigers played hard to the very end, never giving up.

Isaiah Guzman was the leading scorer for Hargrave with 11 points, and was also the leading rebounder. Slater Barefoot and Zach Packer added 6 points each.

The next game for the Hargrave Middle School Basketball Team will be on Thursday, February 2nd, at 4:00 against Carlisle here at Walter Davis Gymnasium.
