The Hargrave Middle School Basketball Team improved in their second game against Carlisle. After losing by 12 points two weeks ago in Axton, the Tigers played much better this time, but still were 3 points short at the final buzzer. The Tigers played very well in the first quarter, but cold shooting allowed Carlisle to take a 11-4 lead. The Tigers played hard but were unable to erase the Carlisle lead, trailing 13-22 at the half and 22-30 at the end of 3 quarters. The Tigers never gave up, out-scoring Carlisle 14-9 in the fourth quarter and making a late run at them. Time ran out, however, and Carlisle ended up on top, 39-36.
Isaiah Guzman was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 20 points. Slater Barefoot had 7 points, all in the second half. Zach Packer added 5, and Gabriel Cabral and Zach Szostak had 2 points each.
The next game for the Hargrave Middle School Basketball Team will be with Epiphany on Tuesday, February 7th at 4:00 here at Walter Davis Gymnasium.
