Miller Falls to Tigers Patient Play

The Tigers took to the field thursday to take on The Miller School and were looking to get back to their winning ways of the 2013 season. Cadet Michael Sullivan would open the scoring on a feeding pass from midfielder Cadet Mitchell Baker. Much of the first quarter saw a number of rotations from the Tiger’s bench as many of the bench players were given the opportunity to gain valuable game experience for the future.

At the end of the first the Tigers held the lead at 1-0. In the opening minutes of the second period senior Cadet Steele Burkett would convert a pass from defenseman Cadet Russell Ferguson for a score. Cadet Walker Thompson found the the goal on a Sullivan pass for strike number three by the Tigers. Sullivan would find the back of the net in the second period as well, off a solo effort after winning the faceoff to extend the lead to 4-0. The Tigers would take the 4-0 lead into halftime.

Miller would strike midway through the third period with their only goal of the day to cut the lead to 4-1. Cadet Stephen Chain responded with a quick goal to follow off a Burkett pass giving the tigers a 5-1 advantage. The final score for the Tigers was handled by Chain and Sullivan, with Chain getting the goal and sullivan the assist. At the end of three periods of play the Tigers held the lead 6-1. The Final period of play was handled by the reserve members of the Tigers all gaining game experience and having fun.

Defensive standouts for the game were Cadet Christian Mitchell and Logan Mitchell, who both played excellent and were well disciplined on the field. Cadet Russell Ferguson had a strong game and added an interception to his season stat tally as well.

The Tigers will play their final regular season game of the year Thursday 5/2 against Rival Fork Union Military Academy. Game time is scheduled for 4:30.
