In their final game at the 22nd Annual Toyota Classic, Hargrave Military Academy claimed third place after a thrilling, overtime victory against Lafayette (KY), 98-88. The win pushes the Tigers overall record to 10-3 on the season.

After a high scoring, fast paced first quarter, Hargrave held a slight edge, 29-23. Both teams continued to make runs in the next period with multiple Tigers picking up early fouls. However, Hargrave held serve and took a 47-43 lead to the locker room for halftime.

During the third quarter, the Tigers ratcheted up their defense and stifled the Generals of Lafayette and pushed their lead to as much as 15 in the quarter. With the game seemingly looking as though it would end in the Tigers favor, Lafayette caught fire from deep and took at 78-76 lead after a pair of free throws in the final minute. Tre King, who is a Lexington native, sealed a successful homecoming trip by sinking the game tying basket with 1.2 seconds left on the clock.

During the overtime period, Hargrave went 5-5 from the field and 9-10 from the line to seal the victory. For the afternoon, the Tigers out-rebounded the Generals 50-27, which set a season high in rebounds.
