Nate Bates Named Head Lacrosse Coach

Hargrave Military Academy is pleased to announce Nate Bates as the new Head Lacrosse Coach.

Nate brings more than two decades of collegiate coaching and athletic leadership experience to Hargrave. He completed graduate studies in Administration and Leadership at Liberty University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Taylor University. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a passion for mentoring young men, building successful athletic programs, and fostering growth and excellence.

Most recently, Nate served as Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Greensboro College. This past season he led the team to a 12-5 record and tied the record for most wins in a season. Prior to Greensboro College, he launched and led the men’s lacrosse program at William Peace University, recruiting the roster for the program’s inaugural season and developing their first department-wide strength and conditioning program. Throughout his career he has had the privilege of mentoring 3 North South All stars, 8 All Americans, 5 Academic All Americans, and numerous all conference players.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Nate co-founded Carolina Hilltoppers Lacrosse, a youth organization dedicated to developing players and helping them pursue collegiate opportunities. His commitment to mentorship and leadership is also demonstrated through his involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“Nate’s track record of building programs and investing in young men stood out throughout the search process,” said Patrick Henry, Athletic Director. “We are excited for the leadership and experience he will bring to Hargrave Lacrosse.”

Nate will begin his role as Head Lacrosse Coach on June 22nd. Nate has been married to his wife Brianne for 17 years and has 4 children. Please join us in welcoming Nate and his family to Hargrave Military Academy.
