P.G. Football Edged Out in Loss

The Post Graduate Football Team traveled to Pikeville, Kentucky this past Monday and was edged out by the homestanding Bears of The University of Pikeville 14-13.

The offense line provided a good push up front led by right tackle Mike Jones, center Will Dancy, and left tackle Markeith Minnick. Irving Huggins and Nigel Rainbow carried the rushing load for the Tigers. Fullback Denzell Thomas also rushed the ball well and had 5 carries for 35 yards. Quarterback Trevor Vasey connected with James Whitfield for the opening score of the game. Irving Huggins provided the second touchdown for the Tigers, as he took a handoff off tackle for 30 yard scamper to pay dirt.

The defensive was paced by defensive lineman Jarren Reed and Miles Grooms. Reed also teamed up with Terrell Stewart for a sack on the day. Austin Copeland provided good run support from his safety position, accouting for 4 tackles on the day. Christian Russell also helped lead the defensive effort from his middle linebacker position.

The Post Graduate Tigers head back on the road this weekend as they travel to Ashland, OH to take on the Eagles of Ashland University. Kickoff is slated for 1p.m. on Monday, October 24th.
