Varsity Wrestling vs. Tiger Invitational

The Tigers opened the season with a 6th place overall finish in the Tiger Invitational. Wrestling for the Tigers were- 103 Hepting, J (1st), 112 Spears, S, 125 Hieny (1st), 130 Hepting, S (1st), 135 Hardin, 140 Arnold, 145 Mulbah, 152 Johnson, W (4th), 160 Hobbs, 171 Siljander, 189 Hancock, J, 215 Adelman, and 285 Patrick.

The Tigers finished in 12th place in the VISAA state wrestling championships over the weekend. The following wrestlers competed for Hargrave: 112 Seth Spears, 119 Adam Radan, 125 Patrick Kelley, 130 Afsheen Robinson, 135 Andrew Heiny, 140 Chris Arnold, 145 John Nelson, 152 Preston Tanner, 160 Klaeton Davis, 171 Bert Dye and 215 William Holton. Four Tiger wrestlers made the all-state team: 125 Patrick Kelley 3rd place, 119 Adam Radan 4th place, 130 Afsheen Robinson 6th place and 152 Preston Tanner 8th place.

The Tigers competed in the VIC tournament on Saturday at VES. The team came together with a total team effort and pulled off their 5th consecutive VIC championship.

After falling to Bishop Ireton 23- 51 and Jefferson Forest 18- 66 the Tigers bounced back with a win over Peninsula Catholic 60-12. The following wrestlers recorded victories for Hargrave: 119 Adam Radan x 3, 125 Patrick Kelley x 3, 130 Afsheen Robinson x 2, 135 Adrew Heiny, 140 James Landfair x 2, 145 John Nelson x 2, 160 Klaeton Davis, 171 Bert Dye, 215 Zack Adelman and 285 Jon Sterner x 2. The team record now stands at 15-7. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday at VES.

Varsity Wrestling vs. Liberty Christian Invitational

The Hargrave wrestling team participated in the Liberty Christian Invitational over the weekend. There were seventeen teams in the tournament and the Tigers finished in 6th place. The following wrestlers participated: 103 Justin Jay – 6th, 112 Seth Spears, 119 Adam Radan – 1st, 125 Patrick Kelley – 2nd, 130 Afsheen Robinson – 4th, 135 Andrew Heiny, 145 John Nelson – 6th, 152 Preston Tanner – 6th, 160 Klaeton Davis, 171 Bert Dye – 6th, 215 William Holton – 6th and 285 John Sterner – 4th. The team returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Roanoke to take on Roanoke Catholic and Patrick Henry HS.

The Tigers were able to improve their dual record to 8-2 with a hard fought victory over Chatham High, 42-41. The following HMA wrestlers recorded victories: 112 Seth Spears, 119 Adam Radan, 125 Patrick Kelley, 140 John Nelson, 145 John Hardin, 171 Bert Dye and 215 William Holton. The Tigers will return to action after the Christmas break when they travel to Lynchburg to compete in the Liberty Invitational.
