Varsity Golf vs. VIC Golf Tournament

The Hargrave Varsity Golf Team completed their season with a 38 stroke victory over the second place team. It was a great team effort, especially for seniors Brad Myers and Jacob Pryor, who wanted to graduate with the VIC trophy. Stephen Boyd was the medalist for the day shooting a 72 and then enduring a five hole 'sudden death playoff' to win.

Varsity Golf vs. Timberlake Christian School

The tigers closed out their regular season with a 149-182 victory over visiting Timberlake Christian. Shooting an impressive 4 under 32 was junior Stephen Boyd. He was followed by seniors Brad Myers 38 and Jacob Pryor 39. Rounding out the scoring was Ryan Short at 40. Also competing were Walker Gladding at 48 and, playing in his first ever VIC competition, John Mathena at 59. Next Monday we play for the league title. We have been pointing to this date all season long and it is now at hand. It is time for our play to do the talking. We will see!

Varsity Golf vs. Lynchburg Christian Academy/Holy Cross

The tigers defeated their opponents on LCA's home course yesterday, 154 - 170 - 184. Leading the way was Walker Gladding at 37. He was closely followed by Brad Myers and Stephen Boyd at 38. Ryan Short rounded out the scoring at 41. Also playing were Clayton Moss at 42 and Jacob Pryor at 45. Our next match is at home tomorrow against Timberlake. Our record stands at 13-1.

Varsity Golf vs. North Cross School

This match was part of a tri-match at Westover's home course, Goodyear Country Club in Danville. This is the course that the VIC tournament will be played at on May 11. The tigers won both matches in less than ideal conditions with gusty winds affecting play. Shooting an impressive 2 under was team captain Brad Myers at 34. Stephen Boyd shot 40, Jacob Pryor 45, and Walker Gladding 49. Also playing were Clayton Moss 50 and Ryan Short 55. Our record stands at 11-1

Varsity Golf vs. Carlisle School

The tigers suffered their first lost of the season by 4 strokes on Carlisle's home course. The match was in doubt until the final group came in. Four of our guys were playing the course for the first time. We will meet them a third time on a neutral course on May 9th in the VIC Tournament. We defeated them earlier on our home course by 10 strokes.

Varsity Golf vs. Lynchburg Christian Academy

HMA defeated a determined LCA team yesterday in the closest match to date this year 148-157. Once again leading the way was team captain Brad Myers with 34. Right behind him shooting par was Ryan Short at 36. Rounding out the scoring at 39 was Walker Gladding and Clayton Moss. One stroke behind was Stephen Boyd at 40 . Seth Edinfield came in at 48. Our next match is Monday at Carlisle, the defending VIC champs. Our record stands at 8-0.

Varsity Golf vs. North Cross School

The tigers won their 7th match of the season yesterday at "tight" Hunting Hills Golf Course in Roanoke, VA. North Cross, playing on their home course, gave the tigers their closest match since Carlisle. Leading the way was Brad Myers with 38. Also scoring were Stephen Boyd 41, Ryan Short 44, and Clayton Moss 44. Rounding out the team were Seth Edinfield 48 and Walker Gladding at 50. This course was a challenge for our team due to its layout. Many holes required irons off the tee rather than the driver. This was a good learning experience for our team as most of them had never played the course before. Our record stands at 7-0. Next match Thursday against LCA.

HMA breezed to their fourth consecative victory with a 158-193 victory over Timberlake Christian in Lynchburg. Leading the charge was team captain Brad Myers with a 36. Right behind him was Jacob Pryor at 38 and Stephen Boyd at 40. Rounding out the scoring with a 44 was Walker Gladding. Also playing was Ryan Short at 45 and Clayton Moss at 51.

HMA defeated Fishburne at home yesterday 151-187. Scoring 2 under was Brad Myers at 34 and 1 under at 35 was Stephen Boyd. Rounding out the scoring was ryan Short and Walker Gladding with 41's. Clayton Moss posted a 42 and Jordan Gray a 45. Our record stands at 3-0

The HMA golf team traveled to snowy Roanoke Catholic yesterday and opened its season with a 164-198 victory on a bitter cold day. Everyone was happy when the nine-hole match ended so they could fine a warm environment to thaw out. One Cadet was overheard saying that he "…couldn’t wait to get back to Hargrave.”

Varsity Golf vs. Lynchburg Christian Academy

Tiger Golf completed its season, 11-2, with a victory over Lynchburg Christian Academy. Medalist for the match was Brad Myers with a score of 35. Thomas Zarr and Robbie Horne each carded a 39. Jacob Pryor’s 40 completed the team scoring. Also, John Garza had a 51 and Chris Tart fired a 52. The team plays in the VIC championship at Chatmoss Country Club on Monday the 10th.

Carlisle School defeated the Tigers for the second time this season. The team played well but could not adjust to the lightning fast greens. Brad Myers led the way for the Tigers with a 38. Robbie Horne shot a 39. Both Thomas Zarr and Jacob Pryor fired a 40. Chris Tart, 48, and Seth Edenfield, 52, completed the team effort. John Garza shot a personal best round of 47. Hunter Sanford had a 57.

Tiger Golf improved its season record to 10-1 with a convincing victory over Westover Christian. Leading the way was Thomas Zarr with a one under par 35. Brad Myers, 37, Jacob Pryor, 45, and Chris Tart, 46, completed the team total. John Garza and Hunter Sanford shot a 50 and 51 respectively. Seth Edenfield played a solid round of 42 but could not figure in the team total.

Tiger Golf set a modern school record with a team score of 4 over par 148. Robbie Horne led the way with a 3 under par 33. Brad Myers shot a 37. Jacob Pryor fired his personal best score of 38 and Thomas Zarr completed the team scoring with a 40. Hunter Sanford and Seth Edenfield also had their season best scores of 44 and 45 respectively.

Tiger Golf improved to 8-1 with a big win over Timberlake Christian School. Brad Myers was the medalist with a score of 37. Thomas Zarr, 39, Robbie Horne, 41, and Jacob Pryor, 42, completed the team scoring. Chris Tart shot a 46 and Seth Edenfield scored a 47. Hunter Sanford and John Garza both fired a 53.

Tiger Golf defeated North Cross School with a total team effort. Seth Edenfield and Hunter Sanford each shot their best score of the season, 46. Their effort was enough to assure a victory at Hunting Hills Country Club for the first time in over a decade. Thomas Zarr captured Medalist Honors with a 39. Robbie Horne, 40, and Brad Myers, 41, completed the team scoring. John Garza also had his best round in competition with a score of 52.

Tiger Golf suffered its first defeat of the season by a single stroke to Carlisle School. The victory over Westover raised the team’s season record to 6-1. Medalist for the match was Robbie Horne with a one under par 35. Brad Myers, 39, Jacob Pryor, 42, and Chris Tart, 44 completed the Tiger’s team score. Other scores for Hargrave were Thomas Zarr, 45, John Garza, 53, and Seth Edenfield, 54.

Tiger Golf extended their unbeaten streak with a solid victory over Roanoke Catholic at Roanoke Country Club. Robbie Horne and Thomas Zarr shared medalist honors with a score of 38. Brad Myers and Jacob Pryor both shot a 41 to complete the team total. The remaining scores were Ted Dalton, 47; Seth Edenfield, 49; Hunter Sanford, 56: and John Garza, 59.
