Post Graduate Team picks up 1st win of Season!

The Post Graduate Football Team traveled to Pittsbrugh, Pa and came out victorious over home standing Robert Morris University. The game featured Hargrave’s first FCS (formally D1-AA) oppenent of the year, Robert Morris University who were the Defending NEC Conference Champions. After a hard fought game, the P.G. Tigers beat Robert Morris JV’s 21-14 on Monday evening.

Offensively, the Tigers were balanced and moved the ball effectively. James Whitfield had the first touchdown of the day, as he made a great catch in the endzone over the defensive back for the score. Hargrave’s rushing attack provided the final 2 scores of the day. First, Tyree Massey score on a 12 yard run up the middle for the Tigers, and fellow running back Andre Hunt scored the game winner on 70 yard scamper in the 4th quarter. Tre Metoyer and Jordan Abney also had 3 catches apiece for the tigers.

The Tiger’s Defense forced 3 Colonial turnovers on the day and stopped held off several scoring opportunities to seal the victory. Defensive Backs Jabari Thomas, and Hildon Bush Jr. each accounted for interceptions on the day. Bush’s interception in the 4th quarter helped set up Hunt’s TD run. Austin Copeland also caused a fumble on a great tackle as a Colonial wide reciever was running towards the endzone. Safety Jeremy Irving recovered the ball for a touchback. The defensvie line provided pressure on the quarterback throughout the day, and Defensive End Desimond Green and Linebacker Dijonne Williams each accounted for a sack.

The P.G. Tiger’s look to keep improving as they prepare for a short week of practice and return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 17th against the Nationally Ranked Junior College of Georgia Military College. The game will be at Hargrave’s Dick Dyer Field and kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
