Upcoming Real ID Requirement for Air Travel: What Families Need to Know

The upcoming Real ID Act enforcement on May 7, 2025, will bring changes to domestic air travel requirements that may impact cadet travel plans. Under the new rule, all travelers 18 and older will need to present a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or another TSA-approved form of identification to board domestic flights.

Currently, no ID is required for travelers under 18 when flying with an adult, but it remains unclear how airlines will implement the change for cadets traveling as unaccompanied minors. While we are still gathering details on how this might affect our students, we encourage families to prepare in advance to avoid potential travel disruptions.
