Roanoke Catholic gets bit

Coach Joe Moran

Thank you all for the support you have given to the JV Basketball team, they really thrive off your encouragement. On Tuesday night we took on Roanoke Catholic in another conference match-up. Both teams came out ready to play with great intensity. Roanoke made a three at the buzzer to end the first quarter with a 13-10 lead. The Tigers reclaimed the lead at 18-16 early in the second quarter. I looked at the bench an substituted five new players. The bench finished the quarter with a 14-5 run to take an eleven point lead into halftime. Inspired by the play of the bench, the starters came out in the third quarter and continued to build on the lead, outscoring Roanoke 18-4. With a 50-25 lead in the fourth quarter, several players got valuable time on the court to finish the game and to record a 55-40 victory.

Cadet Wheeler led the Tiger offense with his best game of the year so far, scoring 21 points and grabbing a ton of rebounds. Cadet Saliu had 8 points and Cadet Billups had 9 points. Cadet Billups also guarded their best player as we switched to a box and one defense to slow him down after an 11 point first half. He only scored 5 in the second half thanks too Cadet Billups’ effort. The JV Tigers are 3-0 in conference play and look to continue their good play tonight versus North Cross.
