Shorthanded Tigers Prevail

It has been said many times that teams are defined by how well they handle adversity. Tuesday night, Hargrave was handed a big plate of adversity- only dressing six varsity players for a conference rivalry game on the road- and responded in a big way. The shorthanded Tigers jumped out to an early 19-8 on the Cassions after one quarter of play, but the home team would not go quietly. Fishburne whittled its way back into the ballgame in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, setting up a dramatic last posession that saw three potential game-tying shots carrom off of the rim.

Hargrave was paced by the electric play of both Robert Tubbs and Tyler Chisholm. Tubbs logged his first double of the season, scoring 23 points (3 3-pointers) to go along with his 10 rebounds. Chisholm collected 7 rebounds of his own to go along with his 22 points (4 3-pointers) and three steals.

The Tigers saw significant contributions from everyone that made the trip tonight. From a big three pointer at the end of the third quarter from Luke DeWitt, big offensive rebounds by Chuck Mulligan and Bo Rouse to a momentum shifting block from Ben Dorfman,  it was a total team effort.

The Tigers will head to Roanoke on Thursday to take on another conference rival in The North Cross School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:45PM.
