In a battle between perennial VIC Championship contenders, Hargrave’s slow start proved too much to overcome. The Tigers fell behind by double digits within the game’s first couple of minutes and trailed by a score of 14-3 after the first quarter.
Not to be discouraged though, Hargrave fought tooth-and-nail to claw their way back into the contest, creating a thrilling finish at Walter Davis Gymnasium. Despite the early deficit, the Tigers held a lead in the final two minutes of the 4th quarter. Timely shooting from beyond the arc and from the free throw stripe eventually gave North Cross the narrowest of winning margins, 53-52.
Pacing the Tigers offensively were Tyler Chisholm (20 points, 3 3-pointers made) and Jason Fields (15 points). While no other Hargrave players scored double figures, Keon McIntosh hauled in 10 rebounds for his 5th double-digit rebound game of the young season.
