Andrew McIntyre was able to pull out the lone win with a very long and closely contested match. After several games decided by long deuce points, the match was finally decided by tie-breaker. Both Andrew Lu and Eric Park jumped out to early leads, but were stymied by their respective opponent’s adjustments. Despite the lopsided score, the singles matches were some of the longest that we’ve had this season.
On the doubles side, as twilight fell upon the courts, McIntyre and Derek Shepard fought on to 7-all before being overpowered to drop with a score of 9-7.
Ben Mills and Bryan Lahti were able to win their exhibition match. Andrew Urschel was similarly successful in his exhibition singles work-out.
The Tigers drop to 1-3 (0-2 VIC) for the season and will be spending next week off on a well-deserved school break. Varsity Tiger Tennis will next host North Cross on Wednesday, April 11. The JV Tennis team will (hopefully) open its season by hosting VES on April 12.
