Tiger Wrestlers Pin a Win

John Belcher

It was another late night for the Hargrave Tiger wrestlers as they saw action on the mats. They first faced off against cross-county rivals, Dan River High, in what was a nail-biter down to the last two matches. The Dan River folks held on to edge the Tiger’s 37-27.

With a tough first round loss, Coach Medlin provided a rousing speech asking the Tigers to find the heart of a champion and a fighter and, your Tigers delivered. They brought heart and a certain Tiger pride that is only found on the Hargrave campus to their match with Patrick County.

Patrick County came out fighting at heavy weight, but the big man on campus, Andrew Scott, shut ’em down with a first period pin. Patrick county would fight back and forth until the 220 lbs. bout when Jourden Galloway (195 pounds) would seal the deal and put an exclamation point on the Tigers victory by defeating a much larger foe with an impressive pin in the third period.

The Tigers of Hargrave will be back in action Saturday, February 11th at the Conference finals.
