Tigers Baseball Team get their first VIC win against VES, 12-5

The Hargrave Varsity Baseball team got back on track on Monday routing VES by a score of 13-5. Hargrave took advantage of some early miscues and jumped on VES early with four runs in the first inning behind Spence Walker’s double in the gap, and singles by Joe Long and Keegan Ferer. The bats came awake again in the fourth inning with Hargrave scoring two runs in that frame, two more in the fifth inning and five in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. The Tigers got mulitple hits from Walker (double,single) drove in four runs and scored twice, Mattox Lawson who was 2-5, and Joe Long who was 2-5 with 3 runs batted in. Every starter recorded a hit in the game or reached base multiple times.
Walker held VES in check all day going the distance on the mound, facing 38 batters while giving up 8 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned runs and striking out a season high 15 batters. Walker was selected as the Player of The Game, please congratulate him when you see him, along with the rest of the guys.
