Tigers Battle Barons for the Win

On Tuesday afternoon the Tigers traveled to Charlottesville to face the Barons of Blue Ridge School in a VIC clash. A tight game throughout, the Tigers were able to pull out a 3-0 win.

In the early minutes the Tigers were able to posses the ball very well which lead to chances created in the first half. Unfortunately, those chances were off the mark and the Tigers and Barons were tied 0-0 at the half. “We knew going into the game that we would be able to posses the ball,” stated head coach Jeremy Eubank. “By possing the ball we knew we would have chances on goals, we were just unlucky on those chances as we were off the mark by a few inches.”

It wasn’t until the 67th minute when Caleb Gibbons (Toledo, OH) found the back of the net to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. “We are an explosive team, which once our guys see one goal go in, we are usually able to get another goal pretty quickly,” stated Eubank. Which is what happened, off a corner kick in the 80th minute, Raines Wall (Chatham, VA) perfectly placed the ball on the back post which found Gibbons’ head to put the Tigers up 2-0. From there the Tigers were able to add the final goal in the 87th minute as Ebrahim Al-Aghbari (Yemen) finds Gibbons on a through ball to make it 3-0 Tigers.

“Going on the road against a tough team, we just knew we had to go into the game and take care of business,” stated Raines Wall. “Early on, we struggled a little to get some goals. However, late in the second half we just kept pressing and controlling the game and were able to find some cracks in their defense to ultimately break the game open a bit.”

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday at the Simpson Parade Field at 4:30 against Virginia Episcopal School in a VIC action.
