The Hargrave Varsity Basketball team improved to 3-0 this evening after their third game in the last five days. The Tigers beat a very talented Liberty Christian Academy squad by a final score of 76-65.
Hargrave got off to a hot start, claiming an early 8-0 lead, only to see Liberty Christian Academy go on an 18-2 run to take an 18-10 advantage. The Tigers stayed determined and battled back to a 19-18 lead after the first quarter. The teams battled during the second quarter and Liberty Christian Academy took a 38-37 lead to the locker room at halftime.
The second half was much like the first half, with both teams trading runs that included flurries of incredible offense and sound defense. Hargrave took a 58-50 advantage into the fourth quarter, which was keyed by Malik Morgan rattling off 10 points in the third quarter.
Hargrave held serve in the fourth quarter and was able to close out the victory!

The Tigers will take the floor again on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Dale Travis Invitational Tournament at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia. Hargrave will face Benedictine at 3:45 PM Friday, December 9th, with the winner advancing to the tournament championship on Saturday evening.
