On Friday, March 22nd, Hargrave got its second win of the 2013 season with a hard fought non-conference victory over the Bulldogs of Martinsville High School by a score of 11-1.
Solid pitching and timely hitting were the keys to the victory. Pitcher Spence Walker went the distance. Spence struckout 6, walked 0, while only allowing 1 hit in the five inning shortened game. Walker’s record on the year improves to (1-0)
At the plate the Tigers were led by Logan Barker (2 for 2), Chris Taylor (2 for 3), and Ryan Castellano (2 for 2).
With the victory Hargrave improves to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the VIC. The Tigers return to action on the road on Thursday, April 4th in a non-conference meeting as Hargrave competes in the 2nd Annual GW Tournament in Danville, Virginia at Dan Daniel Park. Opponent and time to be determined.
