Wednesday marked the Hargrave Tigers Varsity Soccer Team’s last match at home against Holy Cross School out of Lynchburg, VA. The game showed lots of teamwork and steps in the right direction. After a first half won and lost with 50/50 balls in the midfield, the Tigers were down a 3-1 deficit, despite a jumpstart with Tyler Fallen’s goal in the last minute of the 1st half.
Tigers defeated by Holy Cross 5 to 2
The second half proved to be a continued swing of momentum in the Tigers’ favor with a goal from senior Chris Fuschich. As the score was 3-2 and the Tigers gained momentum, Holy Cross continued to create in the gaps between the midfield and the defensive backs. Holy cross put away 2 more goals off of a penalty kick and a weak goal off of the backside post to end the match with a score or 5-2. Junior goalkeeper Henry Averett had a total of 15 saves.
