Tigers Drop Close Contest to Conference Rival

Traveling to Roanoke to take on conference rival North Cross, the Tigers came out hungry. After pouncing on North Cross in the second quarter, thanks in large part to a 8-0 burst midway through the quarter that was capped by a rim-rocking fast-break slam by Jason Fields, the Tigers held a nine point advantage going into the break.

The second half would tell a different story though, as North Cross faught back over the course of the third and fourth quarter to take their first lead since the opening minute of the game,  with just under two minutes remaining. From there the teams were deadlocked heading into the final posession which saw Hargrave have an opportunity to win the game had the buzzer-beating three pointer fallen.

Hargrave was led by Jason Fields (23 points, 8 rebounds) and Tyler Chisholm (12 points, 4 3-pointers made) offensively. Making his season debut, Josh Fields also made a big impact, narrowly missing a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Tigers will look to get back to their winning ways on Tuesday when they host Oak Ridge Military Academy in a non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30pm in the Walter Davis Gymnasium in Chatham.
