Tigers Earn 100th Straight Home Win!

During the recent Shooting for Success Classic, which featured a 10:00 AM tip-off in front of hundreds of screaming Chatham Elementary School students, the Hargrave Tigers rolled to a 101-57 victory over Experience Academy! This victory wasn’t just a normal, run of the mill, regular season victory because Tuesday’s win marked the 100th straight victory inside historic Walter Davis Gymnasium for the PG Basketball program!

Many members of the Hargrave Family had a hand in helping the Tigers (currently 15-6 overall) achieve these feat, both directly and indirectly. This winning streak’s rendition began in February 2019 under the tutelage of then Head Coach, Lee Martin (Ohio University Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach) during a game in which the Tigers set a program record for points in a game with 173, and continued through the tenure of Thomas Messinger (NJIT Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach). This is at least the second time in modern history that the Tigers have achieved a home winning streak of over 100 games, with the current record sitting at 119 straight victories inside Walter Davis Gymnasium (2014-2019) set by A.W. Hamilton (Eastern Kentucky University Men’s Basketball Head Coach) and the aforementioned Martin.

Hargrave’s 101-57 victory over Experience Academy was a total team effort and after a slow start, the Tigers ended the first half on a 43-14 run and never looked back en route to the major victory!
