Tigers Extinguish Flames

The Tigers continued their winning ways Thursday, defeating the Flames of Eastern Mennonite by a score of 78-50.The win is Hargrave’s fourth in their last four contests.

Despite a long bus ride up to Harrisonburg, Hargrave was able to come out strong offensively in the first quarter, propelling the team to a 19-11 advantage at the end of the period. The defense finally came around in the second half, with the majority of the team’s 16 steals coming after the intermission.

Hargrave once again got significant contributions across the board. Robert Tubbs recorded his third straight 20 point game, scoring 23 points on a blistering 9-12 shooting, including 5-7 from 3 point range. Tubbs also added six assists and four steals to his stat line.

Jason Fields hit the 20 point plateau for the fourth time in the past five games, using a series of electrifying dunks to accumulate 22 points in the contest.

Keon McIntosh recorded his 8th double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and collecting 12 rebounds. Tyler Chisholm was once again in double digits in scoring, chipping in with 12. Chisholm also contributed a season-high 9 assists and six steals. Josh Fields was a force on the glass all afternoon, hauling in 11 boards.

The Tigers will return to action Saturday February 1st in Charlottesville as they take on conference rival Covenant for the second time. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
