Varsity Tennis travelled to Lynchburg on an almost perfect spring day for tennis. With the vagaries of spring weather, the Tigers came in at 0-1 against a relatively seasoned 3-1 Bishop squad.
Tiger highlights include junior Sebastian Richardson (Charlotte, NC) unexpectedly moving up the ladder to #3 and still taking his opponent to 4-4 before falling 4-8. Team Co-Captain Aidan Steinbach (Durham, NC) battled most of his games to deuce points, but was unable to quite capitalize on opportunities. As usual for high school tennis, the outcome of the team match score and the individual team scores really can’t tell the story of the effort and occasional brilliance of play.
Mason Rucker (Matthews, NC) made his varsity tennis debute at #3 doubles. David Chen (Chiang Mai, Thailand), Tyler Medin (Chatham, VA), and David Mueller (Miami, FL) were able to get some valuable court experience in exhibition matches.
Man of the Match:
Setting the example with his focus and results, Sebastian Richardson is HMA “Man of the Match”!
