The Tigers hosted the Caissons of Fishburne Military School on Friday. The Tigers opened the scoring in the first minute, however the Caissons would respond by capitalizing on two of the Tigers mistakes to win 2-1.
The Tigers would open the scoring in the first minute as senior midfielder Gisa Rugema would find senior midfielder Gabriel Powers on a cross and Powers would head it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. “It was great to see us jump out in front with a great crowd and to try and build some momentum early on,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Eubank.
However the Tigers would make a mistake in the back by scoring an own goal in the 20th minute to make it 1-1. “We outshot them 15-3 in the first half just couldn’t get the ball in back of the net,” stated Eubank.
In the 56th minute the Caissons would break the deadlock to make it 2-1 Caissons. In the 67th minute players for both Fishburne and Hargrave would be issued red cards due to conduct on the field. For the last 12 minutes of the match, with Caissons would put a strong defense as the Tigers had numerous chances on goal to climb back into the match, however could not connect.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, October 23 in the VIC Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals as the #7 seed and will travel to Harrisonburg to face Eastern Mennonite. Match time is scheduled for 4 PM.
