Tigers find a Wall with Blue Ridge

Coach Joe Moran

The JV Basketball team opened the season with a three hour tour of Central Virginia before landing at The Blue Ridge School for a Saturday afternoon contest. We did not do as well as I had hoped, but we didn’t quit and there were definitely signs of good things to come.

We started slow, but a few too many missed layups contributed to that and by halftime we were down 23-9.  After an historical and rousing half-time talk, the guys came out with much more energy and focus. After Blue Ridge stretched their lead to 27-9, the guys mounted a furious comeback and cut the lead to 36-26 after three quarters. I think we ran out of gas after that and it didn’t help that Blue Ridge made 6 three-pointers in a row, they just couldn’t seem to miss for a stretch. The final score was 63-31, not so good.  But no where to go but up.

Blue Ridge was a very good team, but we didn’t play our best. Cadet Peluso led the scoring with 11 points, and Cadet Wheeler contributed a number of rebounds. Encourage these guys when you see them. Our next game is tomorrow in Lynchburg against EC Glass.
