Tigers Handle Hornets On The Road

Hargrave traveled up Route 29 to take on Lynchburg College in a Sunday matinee this weekend, earning a hard-fought 93-70 victory. The win completes a two game sweep of the Hornets this season, and pushes Hargrave’s record to 37-1 on the year.

Naji Marshall controlled the game and the glass once again, scoring 14 points on just 8 shots and hauling in 11 rebounds for yet another double-double. Antwan Walker also contributed a double-double of his own, scoring 12 points and corralling 10 caroms. Clayton Hughes (15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 3-pointers made) and Braxton Beverly (14 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 3-pointers made) both continued their hot shooting while Iran Bennett (11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks) continued to dominate the low post on both ends. Justin Brown (6 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals) and Sarju Patel (4 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals) also played big roles on both ends of the court for the Tigers.

The Tigers will take the court again next weekend for the annual First Piedmont Invitational in Walter Davis Gymnasium. They face off with Mt. Zion Christian Academy on Friday, with an 8:00pm tip-off scheduled. The winner of that game will advance to the championship game, which will be played on Saturday at 3:30. This will be the last chance to see the Tigers in action at home this season, so be sure to come out and show your support.
