Friday night was a memorable one for the Hargrave Military Academy football program as the Tigers earned a hard-fought 20-15 victory over The Covenant School Eagles. The victory marked a significant milestone for head coach Wade Green in his first season at the helm of the Tigers.
Junior quarterback Ivan Escudero led the Tigers with 177 all-purpose yards and one touchdown, while senior running back Joel Thorpe rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns. The pair also led the way defensively, with Thorpe recording a team-high 11 tackles and Escudero adding five tackles and a forced fumble.
The Tigers’ defense came up big when it mattered most, stopping the Eagles at the goal line in the final moments to seal the victory and give Green a milestone win at Hargrave.
Hargrave will look to carry the momentum into this Friday night when the Tigers travel to take on North Raleigh Christian Academy.
