On Thursday, Hargrave lost the first game of the 2013 season to the Hilltoppers of E.C. Glass by a score of 7-2. After falling behind by a run early the Tigers were able to bounce back and retake the lead in the third. However, several fielding miscues and poor base running led to the Tigers losing the lead once and for all.
The bright spot of the game for the Tigers was pitching. While the score shows seven runs scored, only two were earned. Caleb Mishue pitched four solid innings and Spence Walker came in to close out the game game by giving up only one hit and no earned runs.
With the loss Hargrave falls to 0-1 on the season. The Tigers hope to bounce back on Monday, March 18th, when the Hawks of Gretna High School come to town. First pitsch is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
