In a pivotal match-up between two team ranked closely in the state polls, the Tigers emerged with a huge road victory. Traveling to Steward’s home gymnasium in Richmond, VA, Hargrave was able to overcome a rusty first half to secure the big victory.
Trailing by five points heading into halftime, the Tigers came out with a vengence in the 3rd quarter, turning Steward over a number of times and getting the tempo of the game up. This resulted in a huge third quarter for Hargrave, providing a seven point advantage heading into the final frame.
In a wild 4th quarter that was filled with both timely shooting and costly turnovers, Hargrave’s defense held true and caused two Steward misses in the final 2 seconds to seal the victory.
The Tigers had a spread scoring attack that saw five players score nine or more points in the game: Robert Tubbs (14), Tyler Chisholm (12), Jason Fields (15). Keon McIntosh (10) and Ben Dorfman (9).
