Tigers Record Season Ends at VES

Ben Veshi

In the VISAA Division 2 State Tournament Elite Eight, Hargrave suffered their first loss since January 20th at the hands of Virginia Episcopal School, 48-45. The Tigers finished the season 26-4.

The great atmosphere that the Hargrave 6th Man created in their First Round win on Tuesday was on full display in Lynchburg, with both school’s student sections acting as loud and crazy as they could be! The game itself was back and forth with neither team leading by more than 6 points.

Both teams showed their defensive prowess as neither team eclipsed the 50 point threshold. After a pair of missed free throws by the Bishops, Hargrave had a chance to tie the game only to see EJ Williams’ three point attempt rim out as the final buzzer sounded.

Notable Performances Include:
Tre King ’18–17 points, 6 rebounds
David Garey ’17–14 points, 3 assists, 4 steals

Even though the season ended in heartbreak, Hargrave has a lot to be proud of this season, setting a school record with 26 wins. The Tigers also took home the VIC D2 Conference Tournament Championship for the first time in the modern era.
