The Tigers headed up 29 North towards Charlottesville to take on the Blue Devils of Fork Union Military Academy. The Tigers came out roaring and put in a strong overall performance to top the Blue Devils 3-1 in their season finale.
The Tigers headed up 29 North towards Charlottesville to take on the Blue Devils of Fork Union Military Academy. The Tigers came out roaring and put in a strong overall performance to top the Blue Devils 3-1 in their season finale.
Opening the scoring for the Tigers was Malik Adegbenro, as he finished off a through ball from his brother, Usman Adegbenro, in the 21st minute to give the Tigers the early advantage. In the 30th minute, the Tigers struck again off a cross from Sam Hurt as he connected with Andrew Guarino and Guarino finished off the header to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Fork Union opened the scoring and cut the Tigers’ lead in half but these young men remained steadfast in their approach. The Adegbenro brothers connected again in the 55th minute, in the same fashion as the first half, to solidify the 3-1 victory.
“It was great to see in the last match of the season that the things that we have been working on all season accumulated in this last match,” state Head Varsity Coach Jeremy Eubank. “To see them focus on the fundamentals and put in a sound performance was a good way to finish the season against one of our rivals.”
